You may not know there is major news this afternoon on the political and legal front. God knows we need some relief in this regard. It appears there has been an out of court settlement reached in the legal conflict between Atticus Finch, Adult Dog, and Don Diego, Pre- Adolescent Cat. Atticus Finch had brought suit in the Mexican Casa Verde Circuit Court, and filed an injunction against Don Diego for malicious mischief, physical intimidation, illegal trespass on private territory, and undeserved “Paws With Claws” beatings about the nose and head. Mr. Finch presented a preponderance of evidence against Mr. Diego, clearly citing evidence of criminal trespass and resultant claw marks. Mr. Diego countered with clear evidence of incessant herding and instances of being terrorized and forced against his will into hiding for long periods of time under the stairway, under the kitchen stove, in the fireplace chimney, and in the garbage drawer. Mr. Finch countered with documented evidence of intended food stealing, to wit, Mr. Diego countered he had almost had his head bitten off by the plaintiff, Mr. Finch.
Clearly, this could have resulted in a major conflict lasting for years if not days, and could have jeopardized the peace process. However, at the last minute, Mr. Atticus, having a long history in negotiating major potential diplomatic disputes, suddenly presented a compromise position, by arguing in court that the world is too small a place for opposing factions to render prejudicial judgments against one another’s prejudicial presumptions regarding territory and authority over peaceful movement about said world, and continued coexistence in said world - in this case, Casa Verde. Amazingly, Mr. Diego agreed, in principle, to the proposal presented by Mr. Finch, and currently, we find ourselves in a relative state of ceasefire and “detente” or maybe it’s “al dente”. We will file new reports as the conflict appears to be winding down before hostilities got out of hand and threatened stability in the world. Clearly, in this photo, Mr. Finch is not certain he has taken the correct position, but he’s willing to try. Mr. Diego either doesn’t want to be bothered or doesn’t give a crap or both. The fate of the world hangs in the balance, but we have reason to hope “peace is at hand.” Henry Kissinger 1972.
